WOODVILLE— Services for Robert McGehee Redhead Jr., 80, of Woodville, who died Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary, Louisiana, following a brief illness, will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Woodville with the Rev. Walter VanZandt Windsor officiating.
Burial will follow at Bowling Green Cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home in Centreville.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Born in Woodville on March 5, 1939, Robert was the oldest son of the Robert McGehee Redhead and Leonora Curry Redhead.
In his formative years, he attended the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Robert was a graduate of Mississippi State University and a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. As a former resident of New Orleans, Robert worked for Entergy for more than 30 years, ending his career as the director of public relations. Upon retirement, he returned to Woodville where he became a treasured member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, heading their vestry for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Hugh Curry Redhead of Jackson.
Survivors include one son, Stewart Curry Redhead and his daughter-in-law, Jennifer, and one grandson, Matthew Redhead, of New Orleans; his former wife, Carolyn Curry of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law, Karen Ezelle Redhead of Jackson; three nieces, Selah Ann Saterstrom of Denver, Colorado, Stephanie Helen Miller of Temple, Texas and Melissa Faith Travis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and a number of other relatives and friends.
