FAYETTE— Services for Edward Joseph “Rock” Riley, 84, of Fayette, who died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at Pine Forest Nursing Home in Jackson, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Poplar Hill A.M.E. Church in Fayette with the Rev. Sabrena G. Bartley officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Riley was born May 17, 1935, in Fayette, the son of Boles and Estella Gaylor Riley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Margaret Bolden Riley; six siblings, Estella Riley, Marion Riley Sr., Boles Riley Jr., Catherine Eubanks, Rose Mary Oatis and Helen Louise Brown; and one granddaughter, Chiquita Reynolds.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Rowan Riley; one son, Irving “Chief” Washington; one daughter, Mary Reynold; three stepdaughters, Connie Nurse, Marjorie G. Brandon and Cheryl Neal; one stepson, Brian Rowan; four sisters, Hazel Davis, Mildred Dunham, Odelia Stringer and Senora Walters; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
