Night of the Living Dead will be the directorial debut of Devin Arnold, who starred as Jonathan Douglas in Natchez Little Theatre’s recent production of “Southern Exposure.”

Arnold said he has worked closely with the Natchez Little Theatre for three years since his acting debut in “The Adams Family.”

“It’s going to be a good one,” Arnold said of Friday’s show. “My hat is off to the cast. They have been working their tails off for eight weeks straight.”

Arnold said he had to “dig deep into the actor cards” for Night of the Living Dead to find a group of 23 cast members to portray the lively zombies, deputies and the unfortunate souls struggling to survive the night in a lonely farmhouse set in 1968.

“We have returning favorites and a few new faces in our cast,” Arnold said. “The show runs just like the movie, but with a dark comedic interpretation.”

Arnold said viewers would see multiple sides of the same story — what happened and what would have happened if the scene had played out differently.

“I enjoy the research that goes into every role,” Arnold said. “It goes well beyond what is on the page. … I want people to come to the show with their memory and expectation of it and leave out with an impression that the actors have put on them. I anticipate them being blown away by the work that this cast has done because they have really worked hard.”
