Natchez — Surgeons and the operating room staff at Natchez Community Hospital now have the opportunity to visualize urology and GI surgical procedures better using the latest generation OEC imaging C-arm technology coupled with a unique digital visualization system.

The GE Healthcare OEC 9900 Elite’s state-of-the-art imaging capabilities allow for images during surgery with improved radiation dose control, dependability and versatility.

The low dose setting reduces radiation dose by more than 50 percent from the standard setting, while in continuous fluoroscopy mode.

Natchez Community Hospital went one step further in improving its surgical capabilities by adding the NuBOOM digital image communication system to the operatingroom.

Combined, the new equipment and technology was a $300,000 investment for the hospital.

This innovative product allows the operating room staff to display up to four images on movable digital monitors during surgery.

A tower holding two articulating arms helps free up space in a busy operating room, all while ensuring the right images are ergonomically positioned in front of each member of Natchez Community’s operating room team.

Less clutter, improved staff comfort and improved line of sight to multiple images can add to the success of surgery.

“One cannot overestimate the importance of precise, real-time imaging during surgery,” said Dr. John Wright, a urologist. “Thanks to innovation and advanced technologies like we have with these products, I’ll be able to perform more successful surgeries and advanced, in particular, minimally invasive procedures that patients previously needed to leave town for.”

Tim Trottier CEO said the new technology will allow surgeons to perform at the highest possible level in an already busy atmosphere.

“With approximately 25 surgeries performed every week, we are excited to be one of the first facilities in the country to combine the power of the Nu BOOM with an OEC C-arm,” Trottier said.

“We are dedicated to helping the surgeons and staff at Natchez Community Hospital perform to the very best of their abilities, because ultimately it’s all about providing the best patient care possible.”
