CAMDEN — The Natchez High School Bulldogs made the long road trip to northern Madison County a successful one as they defeated the Velma Jackson High School Falcons 38-27 Friday night.
“At halftime we made some adjustments that were beneficial for us,” head coach Roy Rigsby said. “We executed better in the second half. James Singleton had a big game for us at quarterback. Defense was a collective group. After giving up some big plays, the secondary settled in and did good.”
This was the third straight MHSAA Class 3A opponent for the Bulldogs. But unlike what happened on Aug. 30, when they let the lead slip away and lost at home to Jefferson County, Natchez High made sure that would not be the case this time around.
Natchez High (2-1) plays host to the LHSAA Class 5A Scotlandville High School Hornets out of Baton Rouge, La. Friday at 7 p.m. Scotlandville improved to 3-0 overall after taking care of McKinley High School, also out of Baton Rouge and a fellow LHSAA Class 5A school, 68-7.
