NATCHEZ — The Pop-Up Farmer’s Market returns to the 300 Broadway Street this Friday where local growers, bakers and food vendors supply goods at their freshest.

The Pop-Up Farmer’s Market last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday through September and will temporarily take the place of the Saturday Summer Market at the 100 Block of Commerce Street, said Eddie Burkes, director of the Downtown Natchez Farmer’s Markets.

Burkes said the come and go markets allow consumers to have face to face interactions with local food suppliers and support the work that they do without large grocery chains acting as the middleman.

While many crops are only available seasonally, some sellers may utilize the Friday Pop-Up Market during off seasons for other growers.

“There are certain farmers who have products year-round,” Burkes said, adding the Pop-Up market gives them an outlet to sell their goods and sustain them until the next Saturday market in October.

“We have hydroponics, dairy products and baked goods, some fresh produce and jellies and jams,” Burkes said. “We won’t have any arts and crafts booths until October.”
