NATCHEZ — Natchez officials are hosting a pre-proposal conference at 10 a.m. Monday at 200 Broadway Street for entrepreneurs, developers and other interested parties to preview the request for proposals for renting the Old Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad Depot.
The RFP is being offered to persons willing to renovate and utilize the facility as a food, beverage and entertainment venue — pursuant to the city’s recently adopted 2018 Downtown Master Plan, which positions the depot as the hub of a new “Entertainment District” along Broadway Street, officials said.
During the conference, a power point presentation will outline the RFP.
Details include proposed rent of $3,000 per month with up to $300,000 of credit against the rent offered in exchange for capital improvements to the site.
Natchez City Attorney Bob Latham, city staff, depot committee members, and representatives from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History will also be on hand to answer questions about the project and the process.
Sealed proposals will be received at the Natchez City Clerk’s Office until noon Friday, Nov. 1, officials said.
Shortly after that deadline proposals will be publicly opened and read in the next meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen in the City Council Chambers, located at 124 South Pearl Street.
Those who would like to tour the depot before or after Nov. 1 may contact Jody Rutter, City Building Official, at 601-446-2305.
The official RFP, including the Proposal Requirements and the Evaluation Criteria, can be downloaded from the City of Natchez website at www.natchez.ms.us/bids.aspx.
