FERRIDAY— Services for Polly LaCour Miley, 75, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2019, in Alexandria, Louisiana, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Ferriday with the Rev. Josh Morea, the Rev. Roger Johnson and the Rev. Wayne Gray officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
Mrs. Miley was born Dec. 29, 1943, in LaSalle Parish.
She was a member of Ferriday First Baptist Church and a member of The Ladies Auxiliary Club at Panola Woods Country Club.
Polly earned her bachelor and master degrees in education at Northeast Louisiana University and was a school teacher in Concordia Parish School System until she retired.
Family and friends were her most prized possessions. One was always welcome to come and sit and visit with her on her front porch. Polly was the “glow” in a room full of people and had a true zest for life. She had a strong faith in God and she loved her community.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Velma LaCour; one sister, Peggy LaCour; and three great-aunts, Rose Holloway, Lottie Holloway and Eunice Holloway.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Wayne Miley; one daughter, Alison Miley Cupit and husband, Mark, of Vidalia; two grandsons, Cole Cupit of Frogmore and Carson Cupit of Vidalia; and her loving extended family and her “100” best friends.
Pallbearers will be Cole Cupit, Carson Cupit, Wendel Miley, Randy Miley, Bodie Miley and Dick Whitaker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lowery Moak, Dallas Beatty and Butch Hosea.
