Johnson to run for La. House seat

“We live in one of the most resourceful districts in the entire state,” Johnson said. “If elected, I plan to have a 21st Century economic approach; fighting to diversify our industries while protecting our hometown values.”
“As a father, I understand that our children are the most precious gift we have, and that providing them with a promising future is determined by the groundwork we lay today,” Johnson said. “Their future lies in every decision we make daily.”
As a Regional Political Director for United States Senator Mary Landrieu, Johnson said he had the honor of setting up meetings between former Mayor Hyram Copeland and Sen. Landrieu. Those critical meetings led to the acquisition of the additional $2.5 million needed to complete “our beloved” Vidalia Conference Center, Johnson said.
Johnson said he understands that the next state representative will have to have strong pre-existing relationships at the capital in order to bring forth the resources we need to achieve our goals.
“I am a conservative-moderate democrat,” Johnson said.
Johnson currently serve son seat 21B on the Democratic State Central Committee governing body of the Louisiana Democratic Party; representing Concordia, Catahoula, East Carroll, Madison, and East Carroll Parishes. He is the owner of Sweetie’s Express, a restaurant in Vidalia. He is a member of the Concordia Parish Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Ferriday, and a member of the Louisiana Tech Alumni Association.
“I believe in protecting our 2nd Amendment rights, supporting teachers’ pay raises, supporting our contractors, sustaining stronger infrastructure, and propelling agricultural business,” Johnson said. “I am dedicated to working with all mayors to support the missions of our schools, invest in the growth of local businesses, and protect the priceless traditions our communities.”
Johnson holds a Bachelors degree from Louisiana Tech University and Masters of Public Administration from Belhaven University. He is the former National Policy Director for Democratic GAIN.
