City engineer David Gardner said erosion is happening along the riverfront on Silver Street, but he is already working to assemble a crew to put out sandbags to minimize the erosion today.

J.M. Jones Lumber Company needed 2,000 sandbags Saturday, and Gardner said the city was able to deliver the sandbags and prevent water from reaching the facility.

A third backup pump was installed at the wastewater treatment plant in Natchez after the belt on one pump broke at 2 a.m. Saturday morning. Gardner said he checked on it today, and the two original pumps appear to be working fine.
