WATERPROOF— Services for Jessie Tyrone McDowell, 60, of Waterproof, who died Monday, July 1, 2019, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Waterproof with the Rev. Frank Brown officiating.

Burial will follow at New Fountain Cemetery in Waterproof under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. McDowell was born June 28, 1959, in Waterproof, the son of Myles Daniels and Viola McDowell Thomas.

He was employed by Riverland Medical Center as a food service technician. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother; his companion, Antionette Collins, both of Waterproof; two daughters, LaDonna McDowell and Jylinda Williams of New Orleans; four brothers, Charles McDowell of Waterproof, Marvin McDowell and wife, Marilyn, of New Orleans, Melvin McDowell and Reginald James McDowell, of Waldorf, Md.; two sisters, Virgie White of Waterproof and Carolyn McDowell of Monroe, La.; two aunts, Eddie Lee Gillis of Waterproof and Elvie Daniels of New Orleans; one uncle, Eddie Dean Gillis of Monroe; and a number of grandchildren.
