Lavonne Stokes

NATCHEZ— Services for Lavonne “Von” Stokes, 59, of Seattle, formerly of Natchez, who died Saturday, June 22, 2019, at her residence, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church No. 1 with the Rev. Leroy Smith officiating.  
Burial will follow at Lagrange Church Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Lavonne was a 1978 graduate of North Natchez High School. She continued her education at Delta Community College, where she obtained an associate degree. She worked as a certified nursing assistant, providing in-home patient care and later she became a homemaker.
Stokes was preceded in death by her father, Roosevelt Stokes Sr.; her eldest sister, Vernell Stokes; and her maternal uncle, Willie Reynolds.
Survivors include her loving mother, Catherine Rebecca Stokes; “her girls” Lawanda Ware and husband, Phillip, of Natchez, minister Dawana Stokes Brickhouse of Biloxi, Sharonda Gutierrez and husband, Elron, of Federal Way, Wash., and Marcia Stokes Johnson and husband, Randall, of Brandon; nine beloved grandchildren, Robbrie Thompson, Jayla Anderson, Phillip L. Ware Jr., Malachi Sharpless, Trennis Ware, Raeghan Johnson, Gabriella Gutierrez, Nia Rose Gutierrez and Rylan Johnson; two sisters, Sara Lee Stewart of Federal Way, and Shirley Ann Sherman and husband, Howard, of Natchez; three brothers, Roosevelt Stokes Jr. and Phillip Stokes, both of Natchez, and Carl “Chuck” Stokes of Atlanta; and a number of special nieces, nephews and friends.
