NATCHEZ — A man on probation for manslaughter in Adams County was extradited to Concordia Parish Monday and charged with two counts of murder.
CPSO Chief Deputy David Hedrick said Marvin Anthony Watson was extradited from Adams County after he turned himself over to Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten Sunday. Watson was accompanied by his lawyer when he turned himself in, Hedrick said.
Hedrick said Watson has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, in connection with the deaths of Meghan McCoy Watson and her son at 211 Anderson Road in Clayton.
Hedrick said 911 operators received a call Sunday requesting service at the address. Upon the arrival of deputies, Hedrick said, the bodies of Meghan McCoy Watson and her son were found lifeless in the residence.
Adams County records show Watson has been out on probation after pleading guilty in 2016 to manslaughter in the 2014 death of Peter Jones III.
In 2015, a jury failed to convict Watson on first-degree murder charges in the case. A mistrial was declared by Sixth District Circuit Judge Forest “Al” Johnson.
Watson later pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was given a 20-year suspended sentence with five years probation by Johnson.
Hedrick said CPSO deputies continue to interview possible witnesses and process evidence in the case. Because the case is under investigation, Hedrick said no further information can be released at this time.
“Please keep the family in your prayers,” Hedrick said.
