Three people were shot in two separate incidents Monday night and early Tuesday morning in Adams County, an Adams County Sheriff’s Office official said.
The first shooting, Adams County Chief Deputy Jerry Brown said, occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m.
“At approximately 7:40 p.m. the sheriff’s office a received call about a shooting on Ingram Circle,” Brown said.
Deputies arrived to find a 41-year-old male had been shot in the right thigh and a 30-year-old male was grazed bullet on the right biceps.
The 41 year old was transported to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury and was in stable condition Tuesday morning, Brown said. The 30-year-old victim refused medical treatment.
Brown said the shooting occurred as the victims and several people were sitting under a porch and witnesses said two people stepped out from behind a nearby building firing several shots at the crowd and striking the two victims.
Brown said deputies recovered 18, 223-shell cases believed to have been left by the suspects. Two of the victims returned fire and deputies recovered their handguns — a 9 mm and a .40 caliber, Brown said.
“The house was struck several times,” Brown said. “They had a lot of children around at the time, and the suspects showed no regard for human life.”
Brown said deputies have persons of interest in the case, but no one had been arrested as of noon Tuesday.
Later that night, Brown said a deputy was patrolling the area and heard approximately 15 shots fired at approximately 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
“The deputies responded to another address on Ingram Drive, and one person was shot,” Brown said, adding the 27-year-old male victim was shot in the right arm and the right side of his chest.
The victim was transported to the hospital and was listed in stable condition Tuesday morning, Brown said.
“In this second report, it was basically the same thing,” Brown said. “Guys stepped out from behind a building and shot at him and other guys sitting on the porch.”
Deputies recovered 20, 223 shell cases at the location of the second shooting, Brown said, adding deputies believe the two cases are related but could not speculate on any possible motives.
Brown said investigators have persons of interest in the case but no arrests have been made.
