NATCHEZ— Graveside services for Edward Sylvester, 72, of Chicago, who died Sunday, May 26, 2019, in Chicago, were 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Second Union Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Mr. Sylvester was born Feb. 7, 1947, in Adams County, the son of Edward Sylvester Sr. and Isabelle Gibson.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Second Union Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Roosevelt Johnson. He later relocated to Chicago where he remained until his death.
He was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Alton Gibson; grandmother, Perlina Ware; and grandfathers, Ed Ware Sr. and Marshall Sylvester.
Survivors include his mother; five brothers, Robert Sylvester and wife, Dorothy, Samuel Gibson and wife, Betty, Maurice Gibson and wife, Kim, Herman Sylvester and wife, Nancy, and Anthony Sylvester; five sisters, Barbara Elmore, Alma Rose Beckman, Elizabeth Gooden, Debra Sylvester and Delores Johnson; and other relatives and friends.
