Armstrong summer programs begin

“A New World Awaits You” at the Armstrong Library this Summer!
All patrons and visitors are invited to join the fun and excitement for the 2019 Summer Reading Program in June at the Judge George W. Armstrong Library.
This year, the theme is “A Universe of Stories,” in which participants will have the opportunity to learn about and explore the worlds of space, technology, culture, industries and much more.
The goal of the Summer Reading Program is to help inspire children, teens and adults of all ages to dream big, read more, believe in themselves and create their own story.
The Summer Reading Program launches with a kick-off celebration at 11 a.m. Saturday featuring storyteller and magician Diane Butler. Following the kick-off, summer programming begins at 10 a.m. June 4 through June 27.
The Summer Reading Program will end with a closeout party, in which participants and guests will enjoy food, fun, games, awards, prizes, music and more.
There will be a host of fun activities, exciting special guests, arts and crafts, amazing workshops, story time, reading competitions, prizes, refreshments and much more.

Kick-Off Event
At 11 a.m. Saturday featuring Storyteller and magician Dianne Butler.
Children (Grades K to 5)
At 10 a.m. every Tuesday — June 4, 11, 18 and 25 — Featured special guests include Magician Dorian LaChance, famous illustrator and author Chuck Galey and more.
Programs Include: A magic show, an art exploration program, a space chefs workshop, galaxy olympic games, arts and crafts, a reading competition and more.
Adults
At 10 a.m. every Wednesday — June 5, 12, 19 and 26 — Programs Include “Fit Craze” Health & Fitness training, “Cafe Universe” Art and Music Fusion Program, “DIY Zone” crafting workshop, “Tech Talk” technology and social media workshop, reading competition and more.
Movie Matinee
For patrons and visitors, 2:15 p.m. every Wednesday — June 5, 12, 19 and 26 — Featured Movies for June are “Star Wars,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Avatar” and “Avengers.”
Toddler Storytime
At 10 a.m. every Thursday — June 6, 13, 20 and 27.
Tween & Teens Programs (Grades 6 – 12)
At 10:30 a.m. every Thursday — June 6, 13, 20 and 27 — Programs include: Virtual Reality (VR) Exploration; Lip Sync Battle; 3-D Printing; Cosplay Competition; Arts & Crafts; Reading Competition; and more.
Closeout Party & Awards Ceremony
At 12:30 p.m. June 27: Food, fun, games, awards, prizes, music and more.
The Armstrong Library is located at 220 South Commerce Street, Natchez where Pamela Plummer serves as Library Director.
