NATCHEZ — Residents looking for an evening of family fun can mosey on down to Foster Mound Road for the Adams County Sheriff Rodeo.

In its ninth year, the annual rodeo features bull riding, calf roping and a wide array of vendors, concessions and activities to keep everybody in the family happy, organizers of the event said.

Gates open at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the William Johnson Arena, 200 Foster Mound Road. Rodeo action begins at 7:30 p.m. each night.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for children over 8-years-old and free for children under 8.

ACSO deputy Karren Ewing said organizers are excited that the event this year will also be filmed both nights for the Rodeo Channel.

“Of all of the events happening in the South, they have chosen to film us on national television,” Ewing said.

Ewing said this year’s rodeo will have plenty for kids to do before and during the rodeo. Activities will include a climbing wall, mechanical bull, face painting, petting zoo and hay dig, where children can search for prizes in piles of hay.

“The climbing wall is always a big hit,” Ewing said.

Rodeo clown Sid McFarland and multi-talented trick roper Jeanie Jones will entertain the crowds both night, Ewing said.

Ewing said rodeo fans should come hungry and visit the concession stand filled with everything from popcorn and boiled peanuts to hot dogs and hamburgers.

“It is going to be a wonderful event,” Ewing said.
