JONESVILLE— A celebration of life for Thomas James “Jim” Wilson Sr., 88, of Jonesville, who died peacefully Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at LaSalle General Hospital in Jena, La., will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Jonesville with the Rev. Ralph Webber, the Rev. Paul Colclasure and the Rev. Todd Whittington officiating.
Burial will follow at Heard Cemetery in Manifest, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 13, 1930, in Jonesville, the son of John William Wilson and Lorena McClure Wilson.
He was a 1949 graduate of Block High School. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he began working for International Paper Company in Natchez. He was an active and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Jonesville, serving as a deacon. He was a member and past master of the Harrisonburg Masonic Lodge No. 110. He received his 60-year Masonic Pin in the fall of 2018.
Wilson was preceded in death by his wife, Altonette Carter Wilson; his parents; three brothers, Riley Wilson, Lopez “Mack” Wilson and Henry Wilson; and two sisters, Aline Schnider and Lula Bates.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Wilson; four children, Cheryl Wilson Davison and husband, Howard, of Daytona Beach, Fla., Jamie Wilson Broussad and husband, David, of Lafayette, La., and Myra Wilson Mathis and husband, Rick, of Nashville, Tenn., and Thomas James “Jay” Wilson Jr. of Canton, Ga.; one stepson, Bobby Field and wife, Larisa; one sister, Johnnie Ruth Wilson of Houston; seven grandchildren, Sara Davison, Andrew Davison and wife, Kelcey, Hannah Broussard, John Broussard, Benjamin Broussard and Jacob Mathis; two step-grandchildren, Bona Field and Ben Field; one great-granddaughter, Jordan Davison; and a number of nieces and nephews.
