NATCHEZ– Services for Annie “Tommie” Leake Adams, of Natchez who died Tuesday, April 30, 2019, will be at 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Southerland officiating.
Burial will be follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Adams was born in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Alex Boyd Leake and Clara Cavin Leake.
She was a faithful member of Pioneer Baptist Church, First Baptist Natchez, Immanuel Baptist, Southern Hills Baptist, Cloverdale Baptist and Highland Baptist Church. She loved teaching children in Sunday school, children’s church and leading the Women’s Missionary Union. Her love for God radiated in all aspects of her life. She praised her Lord and Savior each day and prayed for each family member by name. She was always thankful for the blessings of life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Perry Adams; siblings, twin boys, Lizette Leake, Breland Leake and wife, Opal, Mary Carter and husband, I.A., Clara Lea Carter and husband, R.D., Ollie Welsh and husband, Curtis, Boyd Shooter Leake, Aulene Hux and husband, the Rev. Murray Hux, Inez Barton; and two great-grandsons, Brandon LaPrairie and Joshua Switzer.
Survivors include her four children, Carolyn Adams Switzer and husband, Ken, of Clarke County, Charles E. Adams and wife, Melissa, of Vidalia, Clara Adams Spell and husband, Lester, of Richland, and Ann Adams Milner and husband, John, of Flora; one sister, Lydia Morris; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family extends thanks to Compassus Hospice personnel of Natchez and special thanks to Carolyn R. who faithfully assisted her needs. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highland Baptist Church Building Fund, 319 Highland Blvd., Natchez, MS 39120.
