NATCHEZ— Services for James Edward Ware Sr., 93, of Natchez, who died Sunday, April 21, 2019, in Natchez, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J.L. Hammitte officiating.
Burial will follow at Skinner Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:30 p.m. today with a celebration of life wake service at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Ware was born June 4, 1925, in Natchez, the son of Commey Ware and Maude Miller Clark.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a trustee and choir member.
James enjoyed attending church services and helping others.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Ware; four children, James Jr., Carl, Robert Ware and Shirley Jones; five grandchildren and great- grandchildren, Darrell Jones, Trevor, Antwan, Dewan Ware, Lee Raymond Smith; his parents; one brother, Jessie McGruder; and three sisters, Clara, Clarissa, Mattie Ware.
Survivors include, four sons, Terrance Ware, Michael Ware Sr., Stephen Ware and wife, Deanna, and Bradrick Ware and wife, Ursula; two daughters, Doris Maynard and husband, Reo, and Avonne Walker and husband, Larry Sr.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
