As of 3 p.m. Thursday no injuries or structural damages had been reported in Adams County from a storm system that moved through the area Thursday afternoon, said Tim Houghton, acting Adams County Emergency Services public information officer

“What we’re currently facing is a number of power outages throughout the county as a result of downed trees,” Houghton said.

Entergy Customer Service Manager, Tim Runnels said approximately 3,800 power outages were recorded in Adams and Jefferson Counties earlier today.

The majority of damages were centered around Natchez and Fayette, Runnels said.

“Merit Health Natchez hospital’s power went out at 12:55 p.m. and was back on at 3:20 p.m.,” Runnels said.

As of 4 p.m., Runnels said approximately 2,400 customers were still without power, 1,300 of which reside in Jefferson County.

Weather radar reports showed a circular wind pattern crossing the Mississippi River from Vidalia into Natchez at approximately 12:40 p.m. Thursday that moved north of Natchez near Fayette just after 1 p.m., weather forecaster said.

As of 2 p.m., Entergy’s website recorded power outages from Ferriday to St. Joseph and Vidalia in Louisiana and south of Merit Health Natchez along U.S. 61 South and in Fayette in Mississippi.

The area remains under a tornado watch until 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a tornado watch for Adams County and surrounding areas until 7 p.m. A watch means a conditions are right for possible tornadoes.

Included in the tornado watch until 7 p.m. are portions of Louisiana and Mississippi, including the following counties and parishes:

• Adams County
• Franklin County
• Wilkinson County
• Jefferson County
• Concordia Parish
• Catahoula Parish
• Tensas Parish
