NATCHEZ — Miss-Lou residents have a beautiful holiday in store for them, but not before a round of storms brings an elevated threat of severe weather Thursday.

The National Weather Service in Jackson warns South Mississippi residents to be on the lookout for severe weather between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday. Weather service meteorologists say Adams County and surrounding areas in northeast Louisiana and central and southern Mississippi have an elevated risk of severe storms, including tornadoes, damaging winds up to 70 m.p.h. and quarter-size hail.

Thunderstorms are expected to move across Adams County between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday and are expected to produce from 1 to 3 inches of rainfall over short periods of time. Localized flooding in low lying areas is possible.

Friday will be mostly sunny with a high near 67 degrees with gusty winds.

The Easter weekend will be sunny and pleasant with highs in upper 70s and lows in the 50s.
