The Lady Storm started out in the first inning strong as senior Skylar Bolyer doubled down the leftfield line. With smart base running to get into scoring position The Lady Storm were able to score four runs to lead the game 4-0 after the first inning.

Pitching for Delta Charter was Senior Sydney Watts who had runners on but kept Block from scoring in the first two innings.

Block was able to break through in their third with a double from Kastasia O’steen and other runners on base to close the gap, only down 4-3.

Delta Charter in their third at bat got a lead off a double from Watts and another double from Sophie Cooper to help manufacture four more runs to extend their lead to 8-3.

For the Lady Bears it was Tydravia Johnson who started the game at pitcher and went all seven innings.

Johnson seemed to get a little stronger as the game went on. She shut out the Lady Storm from the fourth inning until the end of the game, giving her offense a chance to start hitting and comeback in the game.

The comeback started in the fifth inning, where Block was able to load the bases twice. A bloop single by Twyla Smith, three walks and a double by Bradjaney Wilkerson got four runs home to sneak up on Delta Charter again.

Delta Charter was still leading 8-7 going into the top of the sixth with a new pitcher, freshman Jaden Boydstun who came into the game in relief in the fifth.

Block was able to get a single from O’steen, two walks and a hit from Tylia Harber and with that Block took the lead 10-8, despite three strikeouts in the inning by Boydstun.

Block held Delta Charter off in the bottom of the seventh to win the game by the final of 10-8.

Block continues to advance in the playoffs, beating White Castle 17-0 and now with a victory over Delta Charter.

“The last two weeks we have been tough on them,” said Block head coach Barbara Savage. “We have been making them run like they were football players. Since we have been in the playoffs, we have also had better eyes at the plate.”

Block takes a record of only 6-14 on to play Logansport next.
