WATERPROOF— Services for Joseph Clinton “Ray” Mize Sr., 75, of Waterproof, who died Monday, April 15, 2019, in Waterproof, will be 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Waterproof with the Rev. Larry Walker and the Rev. Joel Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Mize was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Waterproof. He was also a member of St. Joseph Masonic Lodge No. 309, an avid deer hunter and fisherman.
Ray was a cotton and soybean farmer and also worked for Mississippi River Corp. He loved to go to Yellowstone Park in Montana and hear the elk bugle. He loved playing Solitare.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Maxine Mize; two brothers, Johnny Mize and Robert Mize; one sister, Evelyn Mize Mohon; and his first wife, Delores Metcalf Mize.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Mize; two daughters, Sanya Ness and husband, Tom, of Whitehall, Mont., and Jo Lynn Lindsey and husband, Daniel, of Burelson, Texas; one son, Joseph Clinton “Joey” Mize Jr. of Ferriday; four sisters, Ann Walker and husband, George, Wanda Fife and husband, Kenny, all of Waterproof, and Darline Sweat and husband, Jerry Wayne, of Ridgecrest, and Becky Lee and husband, Johnny, of Monterey; two brothers, Owen Mize and wife, Annie, of Ferriday and Richard Mize and wife, Brenda, of Waterproof; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Lentz, Brad Fife, Ethan Lindsey, Sambo Jones, Ken Mahoney, Dale Currington and Audie Richad.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rickey Rush, Clint Gandy and members of St. Joseph Lodge No. 309.
