NATCHEZ — A man suspected of shooting multiple gunshots in the vicinity of a group of people on Gayosa Avenue on Thursday night was being held Tuesday on $500,000 bond for two counts of aggravated assault, Natchez Police officials said.

Kennon K. Calvin, 31, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and shooting a firearm in the city, Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said.

Calvin’s bond was set at $250,000 on each count of aggravated assault, Armstrong said.

The shootings occurred approximately 9 p.m. Thursday.

“He fired multiple shots in and around the Gayosa Avenue area,” Armstrong said. “No one was hit.”

Calvin left his vehicle, Armstrong said, and did not have a gun on him when officers arrested him.

Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the vehicle allegedly driven by Calvin, said Lt. Cal Green of the ACSO.

Armstrong said police obtained a search warrant to search Calvin’s vehicle.

“We did search the vehicle,” Armstrong said. “The weapon was not there. We found one spent cartridge that will be sent to the crime lab.”
