NATCHEZ — Whether it’s automobiles or stage performances, a father and son said they enjoy the show.

When The Dart landed in Downtown Natchez near Rosalie Saturday afternoon, Troy Douglas, of Brookhaven, and his 15-year-old son, Mikyle decided to see what the Natchez Euro Fest Classic European Automobile and Motorcycle Show was all about, and Mikyle’s friend, Sam Reed, came along for the ride as his date.

The three of them walked through the car show and admired several classic and modern automobiles, each with shiny coats of paint and even a few that were decorated and stickered for just a touch of personal flair.

“You’re getting me into it,” Sam Reed said to Mikyle, referring to the car show Saturday afternoon.

“I’m a way bigger fan,” Mikyle said.

Though still adjusting to her newfound interest in classic cars, Reed said she does enjoy giving makeovers — only to people instead.

“I’m getting Mikyle interested in some things I like, too,” Reed said, “like clothes and makeup. I do special effects makeup.”

Mikyle’s fathersaid he brought the two teens to the car show as a chauffeur, but added that his son’s interest in cars may have been inspired when the two of them worked on old vehicles together.

“I just like to tinker,” Troy said. “Some of the different things that we’ve brought in were low riders and jacked-up jeeps and all of those things.”

Troy and Mikyle’s artistic skills stemmed further than just automobiles, however, Troy said.

Troy is also the president of the Board of Directors for the Brookhaven Little Theatre, and Troy said he and Mikyle use their skills to build stage sets and props for the shows. Once, they were able to soup up a car and give it a fresh coat of red paint for a stage production of “Grease.”

“We had a 1974 MG on stage,” Troy said, “and they’ve got two of them here just like it.”
