NATCHEZ— Services for Bessie Lee Sanders Thomas, 86, of Natchez, who died Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Merit Health River Regional Hospital in Vicksburg, will be 11 a. m. today at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Doug Broome officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Thomas was born March 5, 1933, in Gilbert, La., the daughter of Dewey Sanders and Beatrice Holyfield Sanders. She was one of 12 children.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Natchez. One of her passions was gardening and she loved playing cards with her good friends. Bessie was a pink lady volunteer at the hospital for a number of years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Billy Fred Thomas; and one daughter-in-law, Kaye Thomas.
Survivors included four children, Dale Thomas and wife, Terri, Ricky Thomas and Lee Thomas and wife, Kim, all of Natchez, and Cyndy Wynn and husband, Rodney, of Lancaster, S.C.; she loved being called “Mee-Maw by her eight grandchildren; Erika Jones and Kara Wynn, Chad Thomas and Shelly Rogers, Sam and Hannah Thomas, and Lauren Carroll and Luke Thomas; she was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Robert Young, Tommy Young, Zack Jones, Dustin Carroll, Sam Thomas and Luke Thomas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Natchez.
