Lizzie O’Neal Powell

LAKE ST. JOHN — Services for Lizzie O’Neal Powell, 93, of Clayton, who died at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Baptist Church on Lake St. John in Ferriday.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Powell was born in Natchez, the daughter of Phillip and Savannah Washington O’Neal.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary Baptist Church and a retired beautician.
Powell was preceded in death by her husband, Ledger Powell Jr.; two sons, Ledger Powell III and Kareeme Sabir; three daughters, Johnny Powell, Gloria Powell and Juanita Powell; and six sisters, Pearl Scott, Janie McClain, Mildred Wilson, Barbara Kornbacker, Jessie Sims and Geneva Hall.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Powell; four sons, Abdul Sabir and wife, Wajeedah, Arthur Powell and wife, Martha, all of Clayton, Ullman Powell of Ferriday, and Jessie Hawkins of Antioch, Calif.; two sisters, Willie O’Neal and Mildred Davis of Ferriday; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 35 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
