ACCS beat Madison Prep Academy 9-2 on Friday

VIDALIA — The Adams County Christian School Rebels baseball team won another game Friday afternoon against the Madison Prep Academy Chargers from Baton Rouge.
The final score was 9-2. The Rebels are 2-0 in the Miss-Lou Invitational hosted by Vidalia High School and the win ups their win streak to five and their overall record this year to 6-2. Eighth-grader Conner Aplin started the game for the Rebels and pitched four innings. Aplin had five strikeouts and gave up three hits.
The Rebels took advantage of three walks in the bottom of the second to score two runs and make the score Rebels 3 Chargers 1. Rhet McDonald doubled and scored a run in the fourth and one more run made the score 6-1 after four innings. Cody Brown came in to pitch the fifth inning for ACCS and his effort produced a strikeout and one run allowed. The bottom of the eighth saw ACCS manufacture two more runs as they sene eight batters to the plate.
Rhet McDonald came in to mop up the sixth and seventh innings, and he did just that making quick work to end the game. The final score was ACCS 9 Madison Prep 2.
“We have to come together with some consistent play,” said Coach Larry Metevia of Madison Prep. “We have to back up our pitcher. We had seven errors by the third inning.”
The winning pitcher for ACCS was Conner Aplin, and Croy Ficklin gets the loss for Madison Prep. For ACCS, McDonald went 3 for 4 with a double and two singles. Jasin Wesberry had a double for ACCS.
ACCS plays at Silliman Institute at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools District 5-AAA opener.
