INGLEWOOD, Calif. — A celebration of life for Charlotte L. Bernard, a native of Natchez, who died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, in Los Angeles, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Manchester Chapel at Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary, 3801 W. Manchester Boulevard in Inglewood.
While living in Natchez, Ms. Bernard was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
As a child, she attended Prince Street School and was a 1948 graduate of Brumfield High School. After obtaining her vocational nurse’s license in Detroit, she moved to Los Angeles where she became a licensed registered nurse and retired from Long Beach Memorial Medical Center after a career of 33 years of service.
She lived a beautiful and wonderful life — enjoying family and friends, traveling to both domestic and foreign places and was an avid sports fan for her favorite team, the Los Angeles Lakers. She also served her community by being an active member of the Carson Women’s Club and her sorority, Beta Pi Sigma.
Survivors include one loving daughter, Sharon Leanna Bernard; one beloved sister, Rita Bernard-Harris and husband, Roy; sister-in-law, Margaretha Bernard Saunders; and a nephew; nieces; and a number of cousins.
