Project EJECT will be helpful

A new enhanced partnership between local, state and federal partnerships cannot help but improve the war on violent crime in our area.
The partnership, dubbed EJECT — Empower Justice Expel Crime Together — is the work of U.S District Attorney for the southern District Mike Hurst.
The goal is to use the power of working together on cases and training to help rid the community of violent crime or at least severely curtail it.
Lord knows Natchez could use the help as the violence last year had gotten way out of hand.
Rarely did a week pass in 2018 in which someone was not shot. Approximately once a month, at least on average, a person was murdered in Natchez and Adams County.
More hands, more eyes and more heads working together to solve crimes and prevent crime are welcome and needed.
The EJECT program was begun in Jackson and resulted in 130 people being indicted on federal crimes.
Hurst has since rolled out the program to other towns in south Mississippi as well.
We applaud the effort and the involvement of federal law enforcement to continue to back and support local efforts.
