NATCHEZ — Services for Dora Carter Barnes, 83, who died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, in Garland, Texas, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Melrose Church of Christ with the Rev. Michael Hoggatt officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Barnes was born Dec. 8, 1935, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Emeal and Ella Carter.
She was a faithful member of Melrose Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include five daughters, Emma Burns and husband, John, of Rowlett, Texas, Doretha Henderson of Nathcez, Adene Barnes, Carol Barnes and husband, Kevin, and Shawanda Ford, all of Garland; two sons, Byron Barnes and wife, Lavon, of Garland, and William Carter Barnes and wife, Margaret of Natchez; one sister, Ella Robinson; one brother, Dave Carter, both of Natchez two goddaughters, Peggy Wimberly of Monroe, La., and Barbara C. Martinez of Natchez; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; 23 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
