NATCHEZ — Students will be running the show when Adams County Christian School presents a stage production of “Frozen” next month.
On stage and off, some 60 fourth- through 12th-grade students will be responsible for every aspect of the production, said Malori Giannaris, ACCS Drama Club director.
“It’s really teaching them a lot of responsibility,” Giannaris said, “and they’re getting a personal sense of achievement from it, from being able to produce something like this.”
Such a production has many components, Giannaris said, including lighting, microphones, sound effects, music, makeup, costumes and hair, not to mention designing, creating and painting the sets.
“They’re awesome,” Giannaris said of the students. “It is definitely a student-run club.”
Despite letting the students take charge, Giannaris said she is still very hands on with the students.
Giannaris said she hopes the process teaches the students to become capable of handling more and understanding the technical aspects of theater.
The hour-and-a-half long play will run at 6 p.m. for two Saturdays — March 23 and March 30.
Ticket prices vary from $7 for stadium seating, $5 for student section seating and $12 for floor seating.
