NATCHEZ — Services for Thelma Lee Singleton Stancel, 82, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bishop J.L. Hammitte officiating.
Burial will follow at LaGrange Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday with a celebration of life wake service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Stancel was born on July 28, 1936, in Adams County, the daughter of William Singleton III and Josephine Byrd Singleton.
She was educated in the Natchez public schools and was retired from Diamond International and Christi Henry’s Convenience Store.
She was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking and watching NBA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ernest Singleton and Vernell Singleton.
Survivors include three daughters, Debra A. Stancel, Mary Rose Stancel Rollins and Lois Stancel Vaughn and husband, Nathaniel; one brother, William Singleton IV and wife, Getta; one sister, Ella S. King and husband, Harrison; three grandchildren, Daphaney Stancel, Paul Stancel and Carlos Stancel; two sisters-in-laws, Gloria Singleton and JoEllen Singleton; and other relatives and friends.
