The Adams County Soil and Water Conservation District’s annual Tree Sale is planned from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

Local sponsors again plan to give out free loblolly pine seedlings to the public at the USDA Service Center, 110 Northgate, Natchez.

Pine seedlings will be given out on a “first-come, first-served basis,” for as long as they last. 

These seedlings will be hand wrapped as a community service by local school groups and other local organizations.

International Paper Company, Mississippi Forestry Commission and the Adams County Soil & Water Conservation District donated trees for this occasion. 

The Adams County Soil & Water Conservation District Auxiliary has announced it will again sell ornamental and wildlife seedlings, at a nominal cost, from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday.

The following species will be available moonglow pear, Arkansas black apple, powder blue blueberry, tiftblue blueberry, muscadine, white flowering dogwood, American plum, persimmon and pecan. 

These are “bareroot” seedlings from 1 1/2 to 3 feet in height; they will be individually labeled and wrapped as purchased.

Seedlings will be sold on a “first come, first served, basis”; it will not be possible to take special orders or reservations.

The SWCD Auxiliary sale will be in the garage at the USDA Service Center, 110 Northgate Road, Natchez.

Proceeds will be used to support school programs for conservation youth camp, teacher conservation workshop, poster contest and other conservation educational programs.
