NATCHEZ — Geri Brumfield led all scorers with 15 points and Shelby Mason added 10 points as the Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels defeated the Cathedral High School Lady Green Wave 53-24 Tuesday night to remain undefeated in MAIS District 5-AAA.
The first quarter set the tone for the rest of the game as ACCS forced Cathedral into numerous turnovers and several contested shots. The result was a 17-3 lead for the Lady Rebels at the end of the quarter.
“I thought the girls played so well together. It was a great team victory,” Lady Rebels head coach Melanie Hall said. “Everybody contributed together. They were hungry. They were ready. As I always said, to God be the glory.”
ACCS continued to add to its double-digit lead the rest of the game and would hold Cathedral to single-digit scoring in all four quarters.
Drue Boyd scored nine points while Marlee Magee and Danyel Weir had six points apiece for the Lady Rebels.
“At different times, different ones stepped up on the floor. They had fun. And it’s supposed to be fun,” Hall said.
It was not such a fun night, however, for the Lady Green Wave. The most points they scored in any quarter was eight in the second quarter and they trailed at halftime 30-11.
Ryleigh Probst led the Lady Green Wave with eight points and Hailey Ellis chipped in with seven points.

NATCHEZ — Colby Passman scored 15 points and hit the game-winning shot with just seconds left as the Cathedral High School Green Wave held on for a 53-51 win over the Adams County Christian School Rebels Tuesday night in an MAIS District 5-AAA game.
It was a tightly-contested match-up from start to finish. The first quarter ended in a 10-10 tie and Cathedral edged past ACCS 14-13 in the second quarter for a 24-23 halftime lead. The Green Wave put a little more distance between itself and the Rebels thanks to a 16-14 advantage in the third quarter for a 40-37 lead.
