ST. JOSEPH, La. — Services for Elzee Williams, 98, of St. Joseph, La., who died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at his daughter’s residence in Chicago, will be noon Saturday at Tensas High School, 720 Plank Road in St. Joseph, with the Rev. Adrian Lundy and the Rev. Lethaniel Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at the Panola Cemetery in St. Joseph under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Military honors will be performed immediately after the services at the school.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the school.
Mr. Williams was born Jan. 23, 1920, in St. Joseph, the son of Levi and Ernestine Davis Williams.
He was a retired farmer and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from May 5, 1942 to Jan. 9, 1946, earning an honorable discharge from the military and a Bronze Medal for his services.
Survivors include four children, Kent Williams and wife, Gunga, Arland Roberts, Bumbie Williams and husband, Ernest, and Yazoo Hall and husband, Jerald, all of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, his caregiver, Jessie Scales and a devoted niece, Mary “Wee” Gross.
