COLLINS — The Wayne County High School War Eagles rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Jefferson County High School Tigers Saturday afternoon at the Collins Tournament.
Jefferson County led Wayne County 16-14 at the end of the first quarter, but the War Eagles responded by outscoring the Tigers 18-16 in the second quarter to make it a 32-32 game at halftime.
The third quarter proved to be the turning point of the game as the Tigers went cold from the field and ended up scoring just six points to trail the War Eagles 44-38 at the end of the quarter. Jefferson County regained its offensive rhythm in the fourth quarter, but could not make nearly enough stops to get back in the game.
