NATCHEZ — Natchez police arrested two men in connection to a Dec. 28 house burglary.

Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said officers responded to “burglary in progress” call just after 2 p.m. Dec. 28 on the 500 block of B Street, where one individual broke through a window and another allegedly entered an occupied house.

A male subject attempted to take items from a residence. The suspect, however, fled the scene with an accomplice without taking anything when a person inside the house confronted him, Armstrong said.

Investigators said they believe Jacaris Blanton, 20, entered the house and arrested him Thursday on a charge of attempted burglary.

Xavier Bacon, 18, was questioned Friday and confessed to investigators that he’d assisted Blanton with the burglary and broke the window, Armstrong said.

“He confessed to breaking a window and said Jacaris went in and both ran when startled by the homeowner,” Armstrong said.

Armstrong said all arrests that were made last week were possible because civilians willingly gave tips and information to the police.

Armstrong said anyone who knows anything that could help investigators find criminals should contact the Natchez Police Department at 601-445-5565.

“We continue to ask the public, if they see something, say something,” Armstrong said.
