NATCHEZ — Waste collection services in Natchez and Adams County will run on a different schedule starting Tuesday in observance of Tuesday’s New Year’s Day holiday.
Officials said no garbage would be collected on Tuesday, Jan. 1, in neither Natchez nor Adams County.
Arrow Disposal Service Inc., the garbage collection provider for the City of Natchez, will collect garbage one day behind the normal schedule for the remainder of the week just as they did for the Christmas holiday, said Natchez Mayor Darryl Grennell.
“For instance, my garbage is normally collected on Mondays and Thursdays,” Grennell said last week, “so I will be putting my garbage out on Friday instead of Thursday this week.”
Metro Service Group LLC, garbage collection contractor for Adams County outside of the City of Natchez, would also be operating on a holiday schedule this week, Adams County Administrator Joe Murray, said.
Metro customers will have regularly scheduled pickup on Monday this week. However, Tuesday’s regularly scheduled pickup will not be until Thursday, Murray said. Thursday’s and Friday’s collections will be one day behind schedule as well, with Thursday’s pickup falling on Friday and Friday’s pickup on Saturday, Murray said.
Officials said all collection agencies would resume their normal schedules starting Monday of next week.
