NATCHEZ — A Natchez man and a Natchez juvenile face possession of stolen property charges after Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies said they arrested the pair Friday with two vehicles believed to have been stolen.
Nicolas Dunigan, 22, is being held with no bond and the juvenile was released to Concordia Parish on related charges, Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said.
Adams County deputies were dispatched to 949 U.S. 61 at approximately 5:30 a.m. Friday to look for a silver 2013 Toyota Tacoma that had been reported stolen.
Patten said a deputy en route to the location spotted the Tacoma on John R. Junkin Drive as it turned in to Glenwood subdivision and drove into a yard on Glenwood Drive.
The deputy said the driver got out of the vehicle and ran into a wooded area. Additional deputies arrived on the scene and helped take the passenger (Dunigan) out of the vehicle and into custody for possessing stolen property, Patten said. The arrest occurred without incident, Patten said.
A K9 unit was dispatched to the scene to assist in the search for the driver, who was later apprehended and taken to Concordia Parish where the juvenile faces other charges.
Patten said, and an officer who was on scene decided to go to the original call location. While en route, he made contact with an abandoned 2017 GMC Canyon around at 957 U.S. 61 South.
The Canyon was partially in the roadway with flashers on, Patten said, and deputies at the previous location recovered a key and fob from stolen vehicle believed to belong this 2017 GMC Canyon. Both vehicles were towed.
