NATCHEZ — An Adams County resident died in a Wednesday night fire, Adams County Coroner James Lee said.

The fire was reported approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday at 81 Redd Loop Road and firefighters responded to find the trailer house engulfed in flames, said Ventris Green, acting Natchez fire chief.

Three residents in the house were transported by ambulance to the hospital, Green said, adding that one of the victims was later flown to a Jackson hospital.

Green said approximately 16 firefighters battled the blaze for approximately 2-and-half hours.

“This is just a terrible tragedy now for this time of year,” Lee said.

Green said no firefighters were injured in fighting the fire and that the state fire marshal would be traveling to investigate the fire as is the case with all fatal fires in Mississippi.
