Weekend is filled with Christmas

If Monday morning comes next week and you aren’t in the Christmas spirit, you may need to see your doctor and get your Grinch levels checked.
That’s because Christmas will be in full swing this weekend with a number of public activities on tap to warm the hearts of even the coldest of Scrooges.
Christmas parades will roll in Natchez and Vidalia. Natchez’s nighttime parade will get under way at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Vidalia’s afternoon parade will roll down Carter Street beginning at 3 p.m.
The weather for both parade times is forecast to be excellent and Santa Claus is expected to make an appearance in both parades.
If parades aren’t your thing — or even if they are — you’ll have a great, soul-stirring time at the First Baptist Church of Natchez’s Christmas program titled “Still.” The musical production will feature a full orchestra as well as dangers from the Jackson Christian dance troupe Ballet Magnificat!
The production is free and open to the public and will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The church is located at 150 D’Evereux Drive.
Also Sunday night, singers from Alcorn State University will perform what has become an annual Christmas concert beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary Basilica on Union Street.
And don’t forget the restored Christmas decorations at the Natchez Visitor Reception Center off Canal Street. The displays are restorations of those that once entertained thousands of area children and adults at the former International Paper Natchez mill.
If that’s still not enough Christmas for you, area shops are brimming with great holiday deals, so shake off those holiday season blahs and begin enjoying the holiday this weekend in Natchez.
