NATCHEZ — Three teens were enjoying their time off from school Friday afternoon when The Dart landed on Orleans Avenue and found them making their way to a corner store for snacks.

Kammron Harris, 15, his brother, Javae Harris, 14, and their cousin, Quantrell Hess, 15, said they had a lot to be thankful for the day after Thanksgiving.

Kammron said he had put in a full day of work Thursday at a local produce store before going home to a family Thanksgiving dinner that included desserts and broccoli casserole.

“I’m just thankful for being with family and being alive another year,” Kammron said. “I just keep moving on, and I just want to keep being successful.”

Kammron and Hess both said they plan to graduate Natchez High School in 2021, go to college and get commercial driver’s licenses.

Kammron said he also would like to get a business degree and open a shoe store, because he has always been good at managing people and providing customer service.

Javae said he has other plans upon graduation.

“I’m going to play in the NBA,” Javae said. “That’s my dream.”

Javae said Michael Jordan is his favorite all-time player.

“Lebron (James) is the best,” Kammron said, with a smile, “but we won’t argue that right now.”
