MEADVILLE — Services for Nellie Maher Aldridge Ashley, 83, of Meadville, who died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 10 a.m. today at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Meadville with the Rev. Tony Mullins officiating.   
Burial will follow at Union Church Cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ashley was born June 18, 1935, the daughter of Bonnie M. Maher Sr. and Alma L. Smith Maher.
Mrs. Nell, as her family and friends called her, was a long-standing member of Meadville Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Pine Burr Garden Club. She retired from Bell South Telephone and also Franklin County Memorial Hospital. She loved taking care of her flowers and was known to have a “green thumb.”
Ashley was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mildred Maher and Audrey Brown; and two brothers, P.W. Maher and Bonnie Maher Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Beth Wilson and husband, Jimmy, and Melissa West and husband, Steve, all of Meadville; one son, Herman Aldridge and wife, Jonnie, of Meadville; one sister, Louise Southerland Steen and husband, Gene, of Lorman; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Matt Wilson, Tim Brown, Jeff Maher, Logan Aldridge, Russel Brown and Tony Maher.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Southerland, Ricky Brown and David Southerland.
The family requests memorials be made in her name to Meadville Nursing Home Activity Fund, 300 Mississippi 556, Meadville, MS 39653.
