NATCHEZ — An Adams County man faces a statutory rape charge, Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies said.
Jemarcus Kentavis Hutchins, 18, was out of jail Wednesday on a $10,000 bond after being arrested Tuesday on the charge officials said happened over the summer.
“This happened back in the first two weeks of July,” said Jerry Brown, chief deputy Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Brown said the alleged victim, a 13-year-old female at the time, was from out of state and was visiting a relative in Vidalia when the incident occurred.
“According to her,” Brown said, “a relative and another friend took her to a trailer in Lagrange (a community in Adams County) where she met Hutchins, had intercourse and later revealed it to her mother, who reported it to the sheriff’s office.”
Brown said sheriff’s office investigators gathered enough evidence to charge Hutchins and arrested him Tuesday.
A court date has not yet been set in the case, Brown said.
