Adams County will open the County Safe Room, 323 Liberty Road, Natchez, at 6 p.m. today until 8 a.m. Thursday as a warming shelter.
Overnight forecasts project temperatures to drop into the low 30s and upper 20s in the Miss-Lou.
“It (the shelter) is open to anybody who is homeless or has no power or heat,” said Robert Bradford Sr., Adams County emergency management director.
Bradford said the shelter will have cots, blankets, pillows and light snacks, but people are welcome to bring their own blankets, pillows and snacks.
“If they have got medication,” Bradford said, “bring that or whatever they have.”
Bradford said pets would only be allowed if they are service pets or if they have a kennel.
Bradford said tonight would be the first time the warming shelter has been opened this fall and the shelter has capacity for approximately 125 people.
