NATCHEZ — Pilgrim Boulevard between Old Washington Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Street will be closed for up to two days because of the threat of power lines falling into the road.
Natchez Police Department Capt. Tom McGehee said Entergy officials have notified the department that recent rains have destabilized the foundation of a power pole along Pilgrim Boulevard, threatening to drop high-energy power lines into the roadway. An earlier story said the power pole was on Lynda Lee Drive but further investigation found that the pole was west of Old Washington Road.
The lanes will be closed for at least two days until a contractor can stabilize the pole and the threat is eliminated. Until then, McGehee said all lanes, in all directions, will be closed on that section of Pilgrim Boulevard.
