FERRIDAY — Kobe Dillon threw four touchdown passes and Da’minya Milligan had a pair of touchdown runs as the Ferriday High School Trojans rolled to a 54-0 win over the Vinton High School Lions Friday night at Melz Field in the first round of the LHSAA Class 2A Playoffs.
Dillon had yet another spectacular performance, completing nine of 14 passes for 202 yards and four touchdowns. Elijah White caught two of his scoring passes, one for 30 yards and the other for 35 yards, and finished with four receptions for 109 yards.
Da’minya Milligan led Ferriday’s ground game with 137 yards on just four carries. His touchdown runs went for 54 yards in the first quarter and 62 yards in the third quarter.
“We came out and the kids wanted to win. We played hard all night long,” Trojans head coach Stanley Smith said.
Vinton (4-7), which entered the playoffs as the No. 30 seed, was no match for No. 3 seed and District 2-2A champion Ferriday (8-3). The Trojans dominated the Lions on their way to a 41-0 halftime lead.
As a team, Ferriday had 236 total rushing yards to go with Dillon’s 202 passing yards.
“It’s something we’ve tried to do all season, have a good balance of run and pass,” Smith said. “We had them off balance tonight.”
Byron Milligan had two carries for 63 yards and one touchdown while Dillon had a touchdown run of his own. Jamien Green and Justin Burns each had a touchdown reception.
Smith said he was proud of the defense for keeping Vinton off the scoreboard.
“Anytime you can get a goose egg on the scoreboard, that speaks volumes about your defense,” Smith said.
Ferriday will play host to No. 14 seed General Trass High School in the second round next Friday at 7 p.m. The Panthers defeated No. 19 seed Lakeside High School 35-6.
