The sunshine peeked out from under the clouds just before sunset last night. Days of rain have been replaced with blue skies and cold temperature which are forecast to get even colder over the next few days. Here are the forecast low temps for the next five days:

• Sunday morning- 39 degrees
• Monday morning – 46 degrees
• Tuesday morning – 36 degrees
• Wednesday morning – 25 degrees
• Thursday morning  –  30 degrees

If the temperature drops to 25 degrees on Wednesday morning that would break the record low temperature of 27 degrees set on Nov. 14, 1940, in Natchez. The next day on Nov. 15, 1940, the temperature dropped to 19 degrees in Natchez.

Take precautions and make sure your pets, plants and the elderly are protected from these harsh temperatures.

Don’t forget the other events that are happening today:

•  The last night of the annual Angels on the Bluff at the Natchez City Cemetery is tonight.
• Longwood is hosting an all-day music event called “Longwood Afternoon.” There will also be kids’ activities, a cornhole tournament, arts, beer, food and more. For more information, visit Longwood Afternoon 2018 Facebook page. Gates open at 10:00 a.m.
• The Natchez Rotary Club is hosting its annual Chili Cookoff benefiting the Natchez Children’s Services on the Natchez bluff near the Natchez Grand Hotel is today.  There will be $5.00 chili tasting, root beer floats, a blow up children’s slide, and a silent auction. Admission is free.
• The annual Wirt Adams Civil War Re-enactment will be today and Sunday. During the event at Historic Jefferson College, visitors can wander through the Civil War-era camps, talk with the reenactors, and watch demonstrations and battles. Battles are at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. For more information call 601-442-2901 . Admission is free.
